Emotional Eating Support
Emotional Eating Therapy Online
If you find yourself turning to food to manage emotions, and then feel guilt, shame or frustration afterwards, you may be stuck in a cycle that feels exhausting and out of control.
What Emotional Eating Can Look Like
In everyday life, it may include:
Overeating or eating past fullness
Craving specific “comfort” foods
Thinking about food frequently
Eating in secret
Promising yourself you’ll “start again tomorrow”
Restricting food or over-exercising after eating
Internally, it often feels urgent. A strong need to soothe. A pull toward food that feels difficult to resist.
The more we criticise ourselves, the stronger the cycle becomes.
How CBT Helps
In therapy, we:
Understand your personal emotional eating cycle
Identify triggers and maintaining factors
Develop alternative ways to regulate difficult emotions
Reduce all-or-nothing thinking around food
Build self-compassion
Create a more flexible, balanced relationship with eating
The aim is not to eliminate emotional eating completely. Most people emotionally eat at times.
The goal is:
Fewer episodes
More choice and control
Reduced guilt and shame
Greater emotional regulation
Less mental space taken up by food
By the end of therapy, many describe feeling freer, calmer and more in control — not just with food, but with their emotions more broadly.
Is This Right For Me?
This service is suitable for emotional eating linked to stress, anxiety, low mood or self-esteem.
If eating difficulties are part of a more complex eating disorder, we may discuss whether a specialist service would be more appropriate.
Clients often notice:
Cravings feel less intense
They pause before acting on urges
They have many alternative coping strategies
They speak to themselves more kindly
Food feels less emotionally charged
If you’re tired of the cycle and ready to explore a different way forward, I would be pleased to hear from you.
