Louise Tiernan Psychotherapy

Online therapy in Surrey & London plus U.K wide

Warm, practical support to help you feel calmer, more confident and back in control.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in anxious thoughts, low in mood or trapped in cycles with food, therapy can help.

I offer structured, compassionate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy online.

I am here to listen, understand, and help you navigate life's challenges with compassion and expertise.

With the right support, things can feel different.

You Might Be Feeling…

  • Anxious and lying awake with constant worry or self-criticism

  • Low, depressed, hopeless or exhausted

  • Guilty or ashamed for using food to cope with your feelings

  • Distressed about living with a long-term health condition that’s affecting your mood

  • Burnt out and unsure how to slow down

Perhaps part of you worries nothing will change and this is just how it will always be.

Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect and begin to understand what’s keeping these patterns going, and how to shift them.

Therapy is not about fixing you. It’s about helping you understand yourself, so you can move forward with greater confidence and choice.

How I Can Help

A Specialist Interest in Emotional Eating

If food has become your main way of coping — whether with stress, loneliness, boredom or even positive emotions — you’re not alone.

Emotional eating often follows a painful cycle:

Emotion → Urge → Eating → Guilt/Shame → Restriction → Repeat

Together we gently break that cycle.

Clients often notice:

  • A more relaxed relationship with food

  • Fewer cravings and urges

  • Less self-criticism

  • More effective ways to soothe difficult emotions

You don’t need to aim for perfection. The goal is greater freedom, flexibility and emotional regulation.

You are capable of learning new ways to respond to old patterns.

My Approach

I bring nearly a decade of NHS talking therapy experience, having supported hundreds of clients with a wide range of difficulties.

I also have specialist hospital experience working with individuals struggling with emotional eating, low self-esteem and related physical health concerns.

In sessions you can expect:

  • A warm, non-judgemental space

  • Clear structure and direction

  • Practical strategies you can use between sessions

  • Regular progress reviews

Many clients tell me they feel calmer, more understood and more hopeful — often sooner than they expected.
